Loving: A Lifestyle that Brings Shalom
An Easter reflection on Christ’s resurrection, revealing God’s love stronger than death and calling believers to live in love, forgiveness, and true peace (shalom).
Abstract
The resurrection of Christ is not merely an old story we remember each year. The empty tomb proclaims a powerful message: “The love of God is stronger than death.” Therefore, for us as believers, love is not simply an occasional choice, but a daily way of life.
We Love Because We Were First Loved
We are able to love not because of our own greatness, but because God first loved us. Scripture says in 1 John 4:19, “We love because He first loved us.”
The resurrection of Jesus demonstrates that God’s love triumphs over sin and hostility. This love restores our relationship with God and enables us to live in peace with others.
Loving Without Condition
To love as a way of life means practicing it at all times, in all places, and toward all people.
Love is made visible through: actions, not merely words; sacrifice, not mere comfort; loving all people, even those who hurt us; and extending forgiveness, because we ourselves have been forgiven by Christ.
True love does not discriminate. It continues to flow, even when it is difficult.
Love Brings Shalom
When we live in love, the result is shalom—true and complete peace.
Shalom is not merely the absence of problems, but the presence of a tranquil heart, restored relationships, and steadfast faith.
After His resurrection, Jesus greeted His disciples saying, “Peace be with you.”
Love casts out fear and replaces it with peace that surpasses all understanding. Amen.
